Iron Hill Deanery

Church of the Good Shepherd (Meetings are held at St. Agnes)

Holy Family

Bereavement Ministry – Mom’s Bereavement Group’s meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10:30am. Please contact Melissa at Melissa@spicermullikin.com or call 302-368-9500 if you would like to sign up for the meeting. This bereavement group is for Mothers who have lost children.

St. Joseph Parish – Middletown

St. Joseph Parish Bereavement Support Group is called Seasons of Hope and is open to all who have experienced a loss (parishioners and non-parishioners). This is an open forum group where anyone can openly share their feelings, difficulties and struggles over their loss.  The group meets on Wednesdays for 1-1.5 hours beginning at 11am.  There are 4 sessions with each session meeting for 6 weeks before a short break may occur.  The next sessions begin on August 2, 2023.

St John the Baptist-Holy Angels Parish

At Holy Angels in Newark, we have a Grief Support Group that meets twice monthly, the second and fourth Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m. The group is open to anyone needed support, whether Catholic or not, and attendees do not need to be parishioners.

Contact David D. Cowell, MD, MLS, DLFAPA at 302-537-0769. The meetings are held in only one series in the Fall/Winter. Dr. Cowell, a physician and board-certified psychiatrist, is welcoming any parishioner (not limited to St. Ann’s) or members of any Faith tradition who are struggling with a loss within the previous 5 years

The series focuses on losses of any kind (eg. via suicide, dementia in a family member, divorce, deaths of parents sibs, friends; even murders of family members, etc.). As a physician and board-certified psychiatrist the doctor does his best – as a parish volunteer without any remuneration of any kind – to provide what help is needed to as many folks as he can.

St. Jude the Apostle

Meeting information is posted in the Parish Bulletin. The annual six-week course will begin September 9th at 9:15 AM in the Parish Hall. Then, subsequently on September 16, 23, 30, and October 7, 14. These times can be made flexible if necessary.

The purpose of the bereavement course is to learn the many phases of grief and how the Lord is with us on this journey. Also, there is a social support group for those following participation in our instructional series.
